Google launches YouTube Kids app in India

Indian parents with kids who love to spend time on YouTube can now take a sigh of relief.
Google today launched YouTube Kids in India, a special app of the video portal with family-friendly content. The company said it has partnered with several YouTube creators in India for exclusive content for YouTube Kids app. The app is available on both iOS and Android. There's no web version of YouTube Kids.

The arrival of YouTube Kids in India comes one-and-a-half years after it was first launched in the United States. Over the years, parents worldwide have expressed concerns over the content YouTube offers and whether they are fit for children. YouTube Kids is company’s address to such concerns. The app is now available in over 20 nations.
There are already some very popular Indian YouTube channels that offer content aimed at kids. The most notable of them is 'ChuChuTV', the second most popular YouTube channel in India with over six billion total views. The channel offers colorful animations and songs for kids.
In addition to kids-friendly content, the YouTube Kids app is also designed to give parents better control over the things they want their kids to see, as well as a redesigned user interface with bigger thumbnails and buttons so that the app is easily accessible for kids.
Parents can also put a limit on the things their child is permitted to search on the app. They can also set a timer on how long they want their kids to use the app. In addition, the app also offers the ability to turn off background music and sound effects (so that people around the kid aren’t disturbed), and add a passcode to ensure that kids are not able to make changes to the settings.
